Hibiscus & Chlosyne Lacinia
This painting was inspired by my visit to Ecuador last year, where we made so many beautiful memories. We stayed at the peaceful Izhcayluma Eco-Resort, nestled in the stunning southern Andes mountains, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and nature.
The lodge has a beautiful garden filled with an abundance of flowers—both native Ecuadorian blooms and colourful tropical flowers. In my reference photo, a beautiful butterfly was perched delicately on one of the flowers. I couldn’t identify the exact species with certainty, but after some research, I believe it may be a Chlosyne lacinia, a butterfly that can be found in southern Ecuador.
Painting this scene brought back such wonderful memories of that special place—the colourful flowers, the peaceful garden, and the little moments of beauty we experienced during our trip. 💗💜🦋
